Travel Book Series

Louis Vuitton

On a trip to Paris with my family back in 2017, we decided to stop in to see the World famous Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Élysées. Up until that point in my life, Louis Vuitton hadn’t really resonated with me. High fashion and absurd price points just wasn’t my cup of tea. After perusing for a bit in the store, I told my parents that I’d be waiting outside at the cafe next door until they were done. A wrong turn down a flight of stairs proved to be rewarding, as I stumbled across a secret section in the store. It featured a high top table and low-light closet, both full of art and books. For the next thirty minutes, I poured through the LV Travel books and City Guides, Photography and Fashion books, Art and Postcards. It was in that moment that Louis finally made sense to me. It was the soul of the brand and it found me for a reason as I was on my way out to pick up a coffee next door.

Louis Vuittons Travel Book collection is what stood out to me most. Each book explores a country previously unknown to an artist and features their artwork in the medium of their choosing. Each book tells a unique story of the cities and countries they have visited, depicting each place’s varied architecture and special light, and recording the passing days and the lives of its people. The Travel Book offers a new, contemporary vision of travel, taking in both remote wildernesses and cities that never sleep. I nearly collected the entire series and find myself opening a different book each week to leave on my coffee table, or simply to get a dose of inspiration.
